Reactive windshear
WebThis invention is an improvement over conventional windshear warning systems inasmuch as it incorporates a better understanding of the meteorological phenomena associated with a windshear or microburst condition, thereby improving the margin against unwanted warnings and improving the time for the pilot to react. The airborne wind shear detection and alert system, fitted in an aircraft, detects and alerts the pilot both visually and aurally of a wind shear condition. A reactive wind shear detection system is activated by the aircraft flying into an area with a wind shear condition of sufficient force to pose a hazard to the aircraft. A predictive wind shear detection system is activated by the presence of a wind shear condition ahead of the aircraft. In 1988, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA…

WebDescription Wind shear is meteorologically defined as a change in wind speed and/or direction over a short distance. It can occur at any altitude and can be manifested in both the vertical and horizontal planes. Wind shear has the potential to dramatically impact aircraft performance, affecting both speed and trajectory, and can be particularly hazardous … WebReactive Airborne Windshear Systems in the Context of Ground-based System Deployment Study Joseph P. This is available below 2300ft. You do not need weather radar to be switched on for PWS to work, since it switches on automatically when take-off thrust is set.
WebA reactive wind shear warning system is available on most aircraft models. This system is capable to detect a wind shear encounter based on a measure of wind velocities, both vertically and horizontally. When it activates, the audio “WIND SHEAR” is repeated 3 times, and a red “WINDSHEAR” warning appears on the PFD (fig.5). WebNov 26, 2011 · Just wondering if reactive windshear is modeled in the NGX as I'm just after flying through some fairly heavy WS but no alarm. I get that there probably wouldn't be predictive windshear if the wind in FS is anything like rain and clouds, but reactive windshear should be easy enough to define by a few parameters.Rónán O Cadhain.
